For the fourth quarter ended December 31, 1995, a decline in
revenues as well as contract engineering related to the development
of the Company's RDS/RBDS units, completed in the fourth quarter,
resulted in a net loss of $176,229, or $.29 per share. For the 1995
year, impacted by a decline in revenues to $1,910,926 from $2,104,312
in 1994, and by contract engineering costs and costs associated with
the marketing and launch of the Company's new products, CRL reported
a net loss of $306,720, or $.51 per share. As of December 31, 1995,
the Company had net working capital of $1,067,800 and a current ratio
of 4.32 to 1.
According to Ron Jones, Chairman, President and CEO of Circuit
Research Labs, The delayed development and launch of our new DP-100
and RDS/RBDS units significantly impacted the Company's overall
performance in 1995. However, these new digital products, which we
had planned to bring on line in 1995, are now moving into the
marketplace and will provide a major marketing opportunity in 1996
and for years to come. In fact, to date in 1996, we have already
shipped a large number of the new units. These new products should
position Circuit Research Labs as a technological leader not only in
the audio processing field, but also in the arena of paging and
remote advertising sign operation.
The DP-100 FM digital processor uses the latest digital
technology to produce what the Company believes is the most advanced
digital processor on the market. The Company's SC-100 RDS/RBDS
(Radio Data Systems/Radio Broadcast Data Systems) allows FM radio
stations to transmit additional streams of digital information
providing new promotional methods, new public service opportunities
and exciting new revenue possibilities. The visual text message that
the SC- 100 generates can be used for call letter and slogan
recognition, traffic and weather reports, emergency alert messages
and display advertising. The SC-100 can also be used for paging, and
electronic billboard sign control, among other uses.
Mr. Jones concluded, "Based on initial acceptance of our new
products we are optimistic of a return to profitable operations in
1996."
Circuit Research Labs, Inc. manufactures and markets high
quality electronic audio processing, transmission encoding and noise
reduction equipment for the worldwide radio, television and
