Net income increased 76 percent to $3.0 million in the first half of 1995 and grew 106 percent to $1.8 million in the second quarter over the comparable 1994 periods.

Operating income for the first half grew 76 percent to $4.0 million, and was up 120 percent to $2.5 million for the second quarter.

Earnings per share for the first six months of 1995 are up 67 percent to 35 cents, compared with 21 cents for the 1994 period. Earnings per share for the second quarter are up 100 percent to 22 cents from 11 cents for the 1994 period.

Gross profit set new Circon highs by growing 15 percent and 21 percent over the respective 1994 first-half and second-quarter periods. Pricing has stabilized and manufacturing efficiencies are being achieved with higher production volumes.

Total sales growth of 13 percent and 18 percent for the first half and second quarter of 1995 reflects that the new VaporTrode electrode electrode, terminal through which electric current passes between metallic and nonmetallic parts of an electric circuit. The results show Circon has returned to its record-setting pace which existed before the Clinton health-care reform efforts began in 1993. The results do not include the merger with Cabot Medical, which should be consummated at the end of August.

Circon's management has targeted improving sales growth in its international markets as a major objective. The company is pleased that total international sales are up 26 percent in both the first half and second quarter of 1995, primarily due to its outstanding new products and increased market penetration Noun 1. market penetration - the extent to which a product is recognized and bought by customers in a particular market
