Ciprico Inc. (Nasdaq:CPCI) will introduce the worlds first Digital Media Appliance(TM), the DiMeda(TM) 2400, at the National Association of Broadcasters Conference in Las Vegas, NV, April 8-11. Ciprico's DiMeda 2400 is a groundbreaking appliance combining SAN (Storage Area Network) performance with NAS (Networked Attached Storage) ease of use for rich media content. The DiMeda 2400 is the first solution for file sharing workflows to install simply, deliver bandwidth performance previously only available from SAN, and leverage the tremendous cost advantages of Gigabit Ethernet technology. DiMeda 2400 is the first step in a family of Digital Media Appliances from Ciprico designed to simplify and accelerate the digital media workflow.

DiMeda 2400 provides breakthrough file access performance levels exceeding 120 MB/s aggregate bandwidth while concurrently serving multiple application clients running Windows, MAC or Unix operating systems. Because DiMeda 2400 utilizes file access technologies, it is truly application independent. Performance levels are achieved through a completely integrated RAID storage subsystem with optimized file server software running on the latest processing and accelerated Gigabit Ethernet technology. DiMeda's highly sophisticated software architecture supports high availability dual headed failover/replacement, sustained, SAN level bandwidth delivery of 120 MB/s, as well as a number of critical management features that substantially reduces TCO.

Key to the DiMeda family strategy is the product's ability to evolve to future, enhanced fabric technologies as they become commercially viable. This innovative Digital Media Appliance strategy, combined with fault-tolerant dual node architecture, make this the first Ethernet-based storage solution truly capable of addressing mid to high-level visual media applications like video editing, asset management, image libraries and digital cinema.

Ciprico DiMeda 2400 is scalable, with on-line expansion capability up to 16 Terabytes of storage supporting 256 file systems. DiMeda can be installed and delivering shared file access to multiple clients in less than one hour, without the use of trained specialists. While SAN technology is still appropriate for some high end or vendor-unique applications, DiMeda's use of Gigabit Ethernet technologies eliminates the need for installing and maintaining a separate storage network like Fibre Channel. This eliminates the duplication of equipment and significantly reduces training and administration expenses incurred when deploying SAN based solutions.
