Ciprico is the first high bandwidth disk array storage vendor to be shipping product with this new technology, once again proving its leadership in the industry. "Ciprico's strategic partnership and long standing relationship with IBM has allowed us to be first to market with 36 GB drives," explained Ciprico Senior Product Manager Gerry Johnsen. "We have had great success with the18 GB drives from IBM and expect that this new technology will allow our customers an even greater advantage by offering more storage capacity within the same footprint, giving them a lower cost per MB." The 7000 Series, Ciprico's fourth generation disk array, was the industry's first RAID to offer a full speed Fibre Channel interface. It now offers up to 288 GB capacity and sustained data transfer rates of up to 100 MB/second. The 7000 Series comes with a set of redundancy features ideal for use in any real-time environment. To protect against drive problems, the array will continue to operate after any single drive failure - with no loss in performance. Replacement of any redundant component, such as a disk drive, power supply or fan, can be performed while the array remains running. The 7000's Fibre Channel interface has tremendous flexibility and supports both optical and copper host connections.
