Cipriani wins Pier 57 project. The Hudson River Park Hudson River Park is a waterside park on the Hudson River that extends from 59th Street south to Battery Park in the New York City borough of Manhattan. Bicycle and pedestrian paths span the park north to south, opening up the waterfront for recreational use. The Leonardo at Pier 57 is a joint venture of three organizations: the Witcoff Group, Cipriani, and Plaza Construction. Major uses include a museum (La Triennale di Milano), retail/cultural workshops and showrooms, a variety of cafes and restaurants, a marina, and nearly 70,000 square feet of Cipriani events space. The event space would be used to accommodate events like Seventh on Sixth, conferences, and corporate meetings. This proposal also includes significant public open space and community-oriented maritime uses. The retail uses at Leonardo constitute a significant amount of the overall square footage and are primarily Italian-owned companies, selected to represent the continental flavor of this proposal. It would open its first international location within one of the Pier 57 caissons. It would also provide over 11,000 square feet of studio space for local artists to rent at modest (approximately $250/month) rates. The proposal includes a private rooftop pool/club on the westernmost end of the pier's roof. It also includes a marina operated by MarineMax. In terms of public uses, the Leonardo offers a landscaped rooftop public park measuring over 46,000 sf.
