Eastern Michigan University Provides Select Students with Mobile Communications Tools that Enhance the Campus Experience

Eastern Michigan University (EMU) is the first institution to deploy the innovative solution from Cingular and Rave Wireless. This fall, the university is implementing a pilot project that provided select students with Sony Ericsson mobile phones pre-loaded with Rave applications, running on Cingular's EDGE wireless data network, the largest national wireless data network in the U.S.*

The program allows EMU students to participate in group text messaging, receive university and class alerts, and access university services such as email, the course management platform, and staff directories all from their preferred communications device, the mobile phone. Cingular and Rave Wireless are working together to deploy the phones and provide students with support, enabling the university to focus on its core mission of teaching and learning while providing students with a new tool to maximize their college experience.
