Cingular's IM+ enables fast communications via text messaging, which can act as a redundant communication route in the event of a corporate mail server failure. This is important for enterprises that require a back-up system for business continuity planning Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is an interdisciplinary peer mentoring methodology used to create and validate a practiced logistical plan for how an organization will recover and restore partially or completely interrupted critical function(s) within a predetermined purposes. Using the IM+ service, users can communicate with their teams quickly, confirming delivery and read-receipt of their messages in a separate in-box on the wireless handheld. A new IM+ feature, unique to GoodLink 2.0, provides enterprises with the ability to record and audit messages, making it ideal for businesses that require full documentation of internal and client communications.
For faster message delivery, GoodLink 2.0 enables Global Address List Look-up, which allows users to look up company employee e-mail addresses listed in the corporate directory from their wireless devices. An additional feature, the Company History Address Book, stores the most frequently used company contacts on the handheld for fast and easy addressing. A synchronized Public Contact Folders feature allows users to access folders containing shared business contacts, and lets them wirelessly update information from the handheld.
GoodLink 2.0 makes viewing and managing handheld data easier. Using the Notifications Settings feature, users can better manage messaging priorities by setting customized notifications for each application (i.e. urgent email, IM+ message, calendar reminder, etc.)
An On-Screen Alerts feature allows for immediate notification of important messages regardless of which application screen the user is in. GoodLink 2.0 also allows users to permanently delete email from the handheld and the mail server simultaneously, making it invaluable to users who have strict mailbox quotas.
GoodLink 2.0 also has enhanced synchronization with MS Outlook Information. The Outlook Sent Items Folder is wirelessly synchronized between the Outlook desktop and the handheld. Users working away from the office can easily access and retrieve messages sent from the desktop. GoodLink users can also send messages to personal distribution lists created in Outlook and view messages that have been automatically forwarded to Outlook folders.
GoodLink 2.0 offers greater IT administration control, enabling IT to enforce password policies, including alphanumeric and length requirements, on the handheld. IT administrators can easily deploy and manage a fleet of GoodLink users by setting global policies for all users, while making exceptions for individuals.
XpressMail(SM) with GoodLink(TM), now featuring GoodLink 2.0, operates on Cingular's nationwide Mobitex network, with the Good Technology G100, as well as the RIM 950 and RIM 957 wireless handhelds.
