Cingular and Air2Web Drive Huge Growth for Stock Car SMS Programs.

ATLANTA -- Racing fans use mobile devices to receive alerts, participate in racing campaigns

Via Cingular's Quickreach(SM) launching platform, the carrier's offering for reaching mobile consumers with wireless and entertainment initiatives, race fans can use their text-enabled mobile phones and smart devices to receive customized racing alerts or to participate in related news, polls, contests and sweepstakes.

Since 2003, racing fans have come to truly embrace interactive wireless campaigns like "Virtual Crew Chief" and "Race Talk" as weekly SMS participation has risen exponentially. Fans receive customized alerts with the racing position of their favorite driver, pit crew information or even the number of fantasy league points they earned that week. Additionally, racing buffs watching at home simply send a text message to the short code displayed on their television screen to submit votes for a variety polls. Fans are also eligible to win prizes for participating in the program.

According to CTIA - The Wireless Association, there are 194 million US wireless subscribers. The association's research shows that, as of June 2005, this audience was sending over 7 billion SMS messages a month - an increase of 154 percent over the year prior. This trend signals that it will be an even busier SMS season for stock car programs.
