Cingular Wireless Names Kelly King Vice President and General Manager of Greater Los Angeles.

Cingular Wireless has named Kelly King as Vice President and General Manager of Greater Los Angeles, which is part of the company's new West Region. The newly combined company is now the country's biggest wireless provider with more than 46 million customers and has the largest digital voice and data network in the nation.

In his new role, King will be responsible for Cingular's operations in the Greater Los Angeles area The Greater Los Angeles Area, or the Southland, is the agglomeration of urbanized area around the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. There are two "official" definitions—the Los Angeles metropolitan area consisting only of the Los Angeles and Orange , including Central California. He will oversee all business and financial matters for the designated markets in his region.

With more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, King joined Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1990, which later became part of SBC Communications. His diverse background includes leadership responsibilities in sales, marketing, network, customer service, finance and operations.

King holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and an MBA MBA
