For the first quarter of 1996, net income was $110.1 million compared with $101.6 million in the first quarter a year ago. The increase was attributable attributable

For the twelve months ended March 31, net income was $355.7 million, or $2.27 per share, compared with $193.4 million, or $1.27 per share, in the comparable period in 1995, which reflected previously reported write-offs.

Electric kwh sales were up 12.7% in the first quarter reflecting the colder weather and the strong regional economy. Mcf gas sales and transportation volumes for the quarter ended March 31, 1996, increased 12.7% when compared to the same period in 1995. For the 12 months ended March 31, 1996, electric kwh sales were up 8.4% and gas mcf sales and transportation volumes were up 16.0% when compared with the same period in 1995.
