Cinergy reached a new record peak customer demand yesterday of 10,873 megawatts, surpassing last year's peak of 10,387 megawatts and Wednesday's record peak of 10,815 megawatts. With today's temperatures expected to continue in the mid- mid-

 their electric supply. Contacts are currently being made with non-interruptible large volume customers, asking them to voluntarily curtail electric usage.

Residential and commercial customers are being asked to take the following steps: -0-
--   Turn air conditioners to the highest comfortable setting, but no
     lower than 78 degrees.
--   Use fans to circulate air.
--   Turn off all unnecessary lights.
--   Delay use of electric appliances such as ovens, dishwashers,
     clothes washers and dryers until after 9 p.m.
--   Close blinds and curtains on the south side of the building.
--   Close off unused rooms and close air registers to limit air
     conditioning to the rooms in use.
--   Turn off swimming pool pumps and filter systems.
