We are very disappointed in today's Clear Skies vote in Senate Environment Committee. This was the most important piece of environmental legislation the Senate has considered in 15 years and we regret that the committee has missed a real opportunity to improve the nation's air quality in an economically responsible way. We applaud Senator George Voinovich's efforts on behalf of Clear Skies and the citizens of Ohio, who would have benefited greatly from this legislation. Senator Voinovich recognizes the inefficiencies that exist in our nation's clean air policy today and has worked very hard to find a legislative solution. It is unfortunate not everyone on the committee shared that commitment.
