In the three month period ended December 31, 1996, total revenue was $121,582,000 compared to $125,005,000 in the three months ended December 31, 1995, a decline of 2.7 percent. The decline in total revenue in the fourth quarter of 1996 reflects the impact of a disappointing film release schedule, particularly in the first half of the quarter.

The decline in the fourth quarter EBITDA is attributable to the reduced revenue, and an increase in the fixed component of theatre operating costs operating costs nplgastos mpl operacionales  and in film costs.

The net loss for the year ended December 31, 1996 was $31,082,000, or $0.19 per share, compared to $32,907,000, or $0.29 per share, for the year ended December 31, 1995. For the 1996 fourth quarter, the net loss totaled $9,885,000, or $0.06 per share, versus a net loss of $6,984,000, or $0.06 per share, in the corresponding prior year period. The 1996 loss per share reflects the additional number of shares issued during the year.
