THE STORY: Set during the Cold War and based on a true story, K-19: The Widowmaker tells the tale of the Soviet flagship submarine K-19 during its maiden voyage. The vessel springs a leak in its nuclear reactor causing it to overheat o·ver·heat

THE VERDICT: The transition of Harrison Ford from action hero to actor continues apace with this performance winning him critical praise - "tense and enjoyable drama" (Calgary Sun) and a "satisfying summer blockbuster" (Margaret Berry, filmcritic.com). Liam Neeson co-stars.

THE MONEY: K-19: The Widowmaker was torpedoed in its opening weekend, coming in fourth with pounds 9 million, behind Stuart Little 2, Road To Perdition and Men In Black II.

THE RELEASE DATE: September 27.
