Cincom Systems Builds New Data Center Using Amdahl Millennium Global Server And Spectris Storage System.

Leading software vendor has selected Amdahl to equip its new data center with a CMOS-based mainframe server and RAID- based disk subsystems to support the company's business systems.

Amdahl Corporation today announced the successful installation of a Millennium(TM) Global Server (GS) 415 and 290 gigabytes of Amdahl Spectris(TM) RAID-based disk storage at Cincom Systems, Inc., one of the world's most experienced software companies. Cincom will use the Amdahl processor to handle many of its business applications as well as to assist in the development of new and upgraded software products.

The Millennium GS415 server is replacing an existing smaller and older System/390 mainframe that Cincom has been using to help run its business. Cincom is in the process of moving into a new world headquarters, which is to be a showplace of innovation and technology. The new headquarters will house all of Cincom's Cincinnati staff and operations as well as the new Millennium system. Cincom leveraged its move by having the Millennium delivered directly to the new facility, which tremendously reduced costs as well as transition efforts. The cut-over from the old to the new system was completed in less than 12 hours.

This is another example of the Amdahl tradition of bringing robust mainframe-class technology solutions and services to our customers.
