Cincinnati USA Puts Tech Engine Into Overdrive With Formation of Regional Technology Growth Accelerator.

Business Editors

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 10, 2001

Cincinnati is revving up its regional tech engine, with players from big business to small entrepreneurs shifting top talent and resources into high gear.

Sparked by a challenge by A.G. Lafley, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of The Procter & Gamble Co., the region today launched the Cincinnati USA Technology Growth Accelerator, a broad-based catalyst geared to maximize technology development. "Cincinnati already has a strong base of advanced manufacturing, IT services, telecommunications, life-science companies and research facilities," Lafley said. "Until now, however, there's been no overall strategy to coordinate and accelerate tech-driven growth. The Cincinnati USA Technology Growth Accelerator will add focus and direction."

"Cincinnati has the potential to be the hot-bed where new technology gets tested, funded and accepted," said Cassidy. "It's up to us, the Cincinnati Technology Growth Accelerator, to help the region capitalize on Cap´i`tal`ize on`

Approximately 200 volunteers from business, industry, government, academia, research organizations and think tanks developed plans for the Technology Growth Accelerator during an intense, 100-day analysis of the region's strengths and needs.

In addition to creating the catalyst to drive tech growth, the volunteer teams also have implemented several "jump-start" initiatives, including:
-- Jack Cassidy will establish and chair a 15-member Leadership Council to
spearhead the Cincinnati Technology Growth Accelerator.

-- Establishing an CTGA staff with an initial core of five team members, headed
up by Executive Director Johnathan Holifield, who also serves as vice president
of New Economy Enterprise at the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce.

-- Establishing the Cincinnati USA Capital Growth Fund to provide seed and
early-stage equity funds.

-- Establishing the Cincinnati USA Entrepreneur Resource Network, an
open-sourced Web-based network.

-- Establishing the Cincinnati USA K-12 Education Assistance Collaborative to
ensure quality, market-driven technology instruction in schools.

The Cincinnati USA Technology Growth Accelerator will hold a public forum Tuesday, Sept. 4, to receive additional feedback to the vision crafted by the volunteer teams and embraced by the new Leadership Council.

Once the wider public feedback is incorporated, the CGTA CGTA Canadian Gift and Tableware Association
CGTA Central Georgia Technology Alliance

Leadership Council chair Cassidy noted the vision of Lafley and William R. Burleigh, chairman of the board of the E.W. Scripps Co., for their leadership in harnessing the energy of the regional community to create the CTGA CTGA California Tomato Growers Association, Inc.
