"Today's busy parents welcome the convenience and security of being able to reach their children via mobile phones," said Eric Schimpf, general manager of Cincinnati Bell Wireless, "but many are concerned about problems of overuse overuse Health care The common use of a particular intervention even when the benefits of the intervention don't justify the potential harm or cost–eg, prescribing antibiotics for a probable viral URI. "We're very excited about CBW's choice of Parent Patrol to drive its Parental Controls service," said Jonjie Sena, ACE*COMM's Vice President of Marketing for Value-Added Services. "It demonstrates not only the value of parental controls for mobile phones, but also its acceptance by parents as an important and useful tool in the complex job of raising children in today's world."

Sena points out that parental controls have gone mainstream in personal computers and video game terminals, so it is only natural they should be part of children's mobile phone experience.

"CBW is clearly a market leader for this kind of innovative service," Sena continued. "It puts them way ahead of their competitors when it comes to offering real, useful parental control services for today's very connected families. Our technical teams worked together to make this product launch possible, and we're looking forward to building on this foundation to create a rich roadmap of related services."

CBW's Parental Controls service launched on November 19, 2007. It retails for $5 per month, per child subscribed to the service, on top of regular network charges. For more information, see www.cincinnatibell.com/parentalcontrols and www.parent-patrol.com.

Parent Patrol provides parents with an intuitive Web-based interface to set allowance limits on their children's mobile phone usage, including parameters such as time of day, numbers called or received, minutes used, and services accessed.
