Cincinnati Bell Creates New Businesses and Restructures Business Units for Emerging New Communications Marketplace.


CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 1999--

Two New Businesses and Four New Business Units

Increase Autonomy and Accountability

Cincinnati Bell Cincinnati Bell is the dominant telephone company for Cincinnati, Ohio and its nearby suburbs in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. The parent company is named Cincinnati Bell Inc.  is creating new businesses and restructuring its business units effective today to strengthen its position in key markets, enhance its ability to serve customers quickly and increase accountability as the regulatory environment continues to change and a new communications marketplace emerges.

"For Cincinnati Bell to take the greatest advantage of emerging growth opportunities we must have in place a business structure that allows us to bring products and services to market at lightning speed," said Rick Ellenberger, CEO-elect of Cincinnati Bell Inc. "The new structure will stimulate innovation and place the decision-making closer to the customer so we can better anticipate and meet customers' needs."

Under the new structure, the businesses and business units will directly control the resources they need to serve specific market segments and will be fully accountable for financial performance.

The new businesses and their presidents are:

In addition to these changes, Ellenberger also announced the appointment of Doug Myers as president of Cincinnati Bell Directory. Myers, formerly Cincinnati Bell Directory's vice president of sales and marketing, succeeds Jack Mueller Jack Mueller may refer to:

, who is returning to Cincinnati Bell Telephone to lead an important business unit.

New Business Units Complete Restructuring

The new business units within Cincinnati Bell Telephone are Business Market, Residence Market, Access & Public Market and Operator and Directory Services.

Each business unit will have its own general manager in control of operations, finance, information technology, regulation, sales, marketing and customer service.

General managers are: Jack Mueller, Residence Market; Linda Frank, Access & Public Market; and Cori Rothenbach, Operator and Directory Services. The Business Market general manager has not been named.

Frank was vice president-Client Technical Operations. Rothenbach was vice president-Operator and Directory Services.
