Cimetrix to Exhibit With SIG Pack at PACK EXPO.

Cimetrix Inc. (OTC: CMXX), of Salt Lake City, Tuesday announced that it will exhibit its machine control software products at the PACK EXPO International 2000 show in Chicago on Nov. 5-9, 2000.

Cimetrix software will be running several new SIG Delta robots in the SIG Pack booth. SIG Pack, of Beringen, Switzerland, is a worldwide leader in packaging systems and has one of the largest displays at the show.

Cimetrix has been working closely with SIG Pack for the past year to design a new line of highly flexible and extremely fast robots for advanced packaging applications. More details on the Cimetrix relationship with SIG Pack will be announced at PACK EXPO.

Demonstrations will include a dual robot packaging application, a wash down robot, and a programming station that will allow online program changes to a Delta robot.

The cooperation between SIG Pack and Cimetrix has resulted in several unique features in pick and place robots. The Delta robot is a new parallel mechanism design, which has very low inertia for fast acceleration, minimal moving cables for increased reliability, and high rigidity for precision movements.

The controller is a PC-based design that is programmed either using standard languages such as Visual C++ or like a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) using the IEC 1131-3 standard. Robot motions, conveyor control, vision, sorting routines, and safety interlocks are all programmed through one well-known interface.

Cimetrix, Siemens Energy and Automation, and SIG Pack have all worked together to create this easy to use interface for the packaging industry.

PACK EXPO International is held every two years. This year, it will be held from Nov. 5-9 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

More than 1,600 exhibitors will cover over 1,200,000 square feet of exhibit space with the latest innovations in packaging machinery, converting machinery, materials, packages and containers, controls, software, components, fabrication, robotics, and design systems. Over 75,000 visitors are expected, including over 6,000 international visitors from 60 countries.
