Cigital Announces Year End 2001 Results; Company Maintains Profitability, Signs Thirteen New Clients.

DULLES, Va. -- Cigital, Inc. today announced continued profitability during the year 2001. The Company -- the leading provider of Software Risk Management solutions that help companies protect themselves from the business risks of software failure -- signed 13 new clients, performed 12 follow-on engagements and entered into two alliance partnerships. Its research division, Cigital Labs, was awarded funding by NSA, DARPA and NASA, where Cigital researchers established a software assurance center of excellence.

2001 saw Cigital named to the Deloitte & Touche Virginia Fast 50 for the third consecutive year and ranked among Virginia Business Magazine's Fantastic 50 for the fourth consecutive year. Cigital also received an outstanding achievement award from the Commonwealth of Virginia for its success on a Department of Defense software assurance research project.

The 13 new clients signed by Cigital in 2001 include such industry leaders as Pfizer Health Solutions, MasterCard International, WMS Gaming, Motorola, Barclays, Chapdelaine and Schlumberger. Follow-on engagements were performed for Raytheon and Agile Software, among others. Cigital provides these clients and other Global 1000 firms with its advanced, field-proven methodologies, proprietary technologies and specialized expertise in identifying, mitigating and managing software-induced business risks. Cigital significantly strengthened its senior management team in 2001 by promoting John Bowman to vice president of product management and Gary McGraw, Ph.D. to chief technical officer and by naming Terrie Rollins as vice president of consulting and Ed McComas as vice president of sales. Cigital experts published two books in 2001: Security & Privacy for E-Business (John Wiley & Sons), authored by former Vice President of Research Anup Ghosh, Ph.D. and Building Secure Software (Addison-Wesley), co-authored by CTO McGraw. In addition, Cigital Co-Founder and Chief Scientist Jeffrey Voas, Ph.D. was appointed to Underwriters Laboratories' (UL) 1998 Standards Technical Panel and NATO's Task Group on Validation, Verification, and Certification of Embedded Systems. In October 2001, Cigital announced the discovery of a means by which attackers can penetrate, monitor and manipulate data on traditional wired networks by accessing the system through its wireless sub-network.
