Chyron Launches Duet At NAB '98.

Chyron Corporation (NYSE:CHY), manufacturer of the world's premiere character generators and graphics equipment, today announced the introduction of Duet(TM), a new media processing platform that provides the primary component for a variety of real-time video applications.

Duet brings a unique approach to the challenge of real-time video performance within an open-system framework. This platform is also Chyron's DTV solution. At its core is an architecture that supports 40 simultaneous, full bandwidth video streams along with an object- oriented 2D/3D graphics engine that is scalable to any ATSC resolution and scan rate. In no other video platform is the integration of "off the shelf" sub-systems with Windows NT and specialized processing hardware so powerful.

Duet is an open platform, so third party developers are included in the equation. CAL(TM), Chyron's Abstraction Layer, provides a rich environment for those interested in creating their own unique solutions. The CAL library provides full access to all Duet functions. It also works with third party applications through Microsoft's COM and DCOM technologies.

A suite of applications from the Chyron software team complements the new hardware platform, including traditional offerings in the paint and character generator categories.
