Chyron Corporation announces developments from 1996 International Broadcasters Conference and opening of new sales office in the United Kingdom.

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 1996--Chyron Corporation (NYSE:CHY) today announced that Chyron, Pro-Bel and RT-SET introduced, showcased and/or demonstrated several new products at the 1996 International Broadcasters Conference ("IBC`96"), Europe's largest broadcasting event, held September 12th-16th, 1996 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The Company also announced that it has opened a sales and technical support office in Wantage, Oxfordshire in the United Kingdom, supervised by product specialist Peter Jarrett.

A summary of the Company's announcements follows.

CHYRON CORPORATION

Chyron announced:

-- That Videoland, the sole distributor for international networks

such as CNN, TNT, The Cartoon Network, The Discovery Channel and

MTV in Taiwan, is the first cable and satellite program

distributor to use Chyron's Chinese version iNFiNiT! Message

Compose software. This new software allows users to type in

Chinese directly from the keyboard and also provides multiple

input methods for additional Asian languages. This upgrade

allows Chyron's iNFiNiT! and MAX> to be used for the first time

by customers in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.

Chyron introduced:

-- The WiNFiNiT! graphical user interface for Chyron's

industry-standard iNFiNiT! family of graphics systems, thus

beginning the Company's migration towards a Microsoft Windows

NT(R)-based operating system. WiNFiNiT! provides a Windows NT

front end for Chyron's iNFiNiT! family of character generators.

Chyron showcased:

-- Two new options for MAXINE!, its single channel graphics system -

an optional preview channel, and Transform Lite;

-- New software upgrades for its LIBERTY PAINT 64 and LIBERTY

Version 5.5, including support of Silicon Graphics Indigo2

IMPACT(TM) workstation and enhanced connectivity with Chyron's

iNFiNiT! family and IMAGESTOR(TM) real-time still store

management system;

-- IMAGESTOR! Still Store Management System with easy file

interchangability with PC, Macintosh, and Silicon Graphics(R)

computers and networking between Chyron Graphics and Liberty

systems.

Chyron demonstrated:

-- iNFiNiT! FREEDOM, a digital production and design solution for

on-air playback which combines Chyron Graphics Systems, animation,

paint, still store, file management, digital disk recorder and

networking products;

-- Significant upgrades to iNFiNiT! and MAX > Graphics Systems,

including the addition of Asian language support; Transform 11 -

the real time animation engine for iNFiNit! and MAX>; and

digital disk recorder control;

-- New software interfaces with its iNFiNiT! Family, CODI and

PC-CODI Graphics Systems which were developed by two companies,

3RDI, Inc. and Interactive Sports TV, for the broadcast of on-air

sports statistics;

-- CMX OMNI Version 14.0 Software which enables random access

editing with VTR's and digital disk recorders.

PRO-BEL LIMITED

Pro-Bel Limited is a United Kingdom-based manufacturer and distributor of video signal switching equipment and systems which was acquired by Chyron in April 1996.

Pro-Bel introduced:

-- Advanced XD Series digital routers, which offer total control

compatibility with current Pro-Bel routers, and TM32 Series

multi-format routers which extend the TM24 series of

multi-format routers by expanding 32x16 and 32 x 32 matrices;

-- The Sextant Automation System which provides a cost-effective,

multi-channel automation system designed to address the

requirements of the medium-sized broadcast operation;

-- MAST, a new software package for the Company's System 3 router

controller providing multi-stage tieline control and

connectivity for environments where many routers need to be

connected transparently;

-- New software modules for the Company's widely installed MAPP 

media mapping system. This package is based on open SQL database

software and integrated with popular station automation systems

to track station assets across the complete range of available

equipment;

-- Accent Logo Generator & Inserter, which stores up to ten

individual single layer logos or one full- screen image with the

ability to key it over a background source;

-- Accent Keyer/Mixer, which combines a downstream keyer or AB

mixer functions in a single unit.

Pro-Bel also announced that its new MAPP cacheing feature, a recent enhancement to Pro-Bel Software's MAPP media management system, has been installed at NBC SuperChannel in London. The Company also noted that MAPP media management software has been successfully installed at HTV, Danmarks Radio, Swedish Television, and TV3 Ljubliana.

RT-SET

RT-SET develops, markets and sells real-time virtual studio set software and proprietary communications hardware that operate on Silicon Graphics(R) systems. Chyron acquired an 19% interest in RT-SET in February 1996.

RT-SET announced:

-- New features for its Larus(TM) and Otus(TM) products. The

Larus system enables real-time integration of live talent

with 3D virtual sets during live-to-air shooting. New

features include the ability to manipulate the on-screen

appearance of live talent with various effects in the real-time

graphics world. The Otus system enables users to integrate

live talent with 3D virtual sets for live-to-tape shooting.

Otus now includes the ability for post-production within any

off-the-shelf modeling program;

-- That it has received an official purchase order from SZM 

Sendezentrum Muenchen for three licenses of the Larus(TM)

Virtual Studio System. Terms were not disclosed. SZM

Sendezentrum Muenchen, located in Germany, is one of

the largest TV production, post-production and network

switching facilities in the world, and acts as a production

center for four television stations: Pro7, a general

interest and entertainment station; DSF, an all-sports

channel; Home Order Television, Germany's first 24 hour

teleshopping channel; and Kabel 1 which runs both movies

and entertainment.

During its live demonstration at IBC '96, RT-SET used sets prepared for the CBS Television Network Series, "Secrets of the Cryptkeeper's Haunted House." The series is produced by the Goldwyn Entertainment Company in association with Keller Productions, the Wohl Company and Tales From the Crypt Productions.
