pre-game shows focus on the team that we are playing that afternoon," says Stephen Venditti, broadcast technology manager for the NY Giants. "So, for example, the fans are watching and we are showing them what to expect from the Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They compete in the Northern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL).
. Our on-air operator, Phil McConkey Philip Joseph McConkey (born February 24, 1957 in Buffalo, New York) is a former American football wide receiver who played for the New York Giants (1984-1988), Green Bay Packers (1986), Phoenix Cardinals (1989), and San Diego Chargers (1989) of the National Football League. , uses the CodiStrator to sort out the action of the play in a clear, concise manner not possible with older technology."

Through the new battery of features, the CodiStrator can now telestrate game or any presentation action with increased facility. For the New York Giants and operator Phil McConkey (A former wide-receiver on the team in 1986 for Super Bowl XXI Super Bowl XXI was the 21st championship game of the modern National Football League (NFL). The game was played on January 25, 1987 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California following the 1986 regular season. ), the CodiStrator allows him to do the familiar real-time line drawing, but additionally allows a shadow effect where a player is highlighted and everything else in the frame is darkened dark·en

. McConkey can add numbered bullets to a string of wide receivers and pull straight lines with arrows from each bullet to illustrate the action about to take place.

"The new things that this machine can do are simply amazing," says Venditti. "McConkey does everything on camera at once. He's telestrating on the fly and, therefore, moving the guest coaches and players through an analysis more quickly. He is switching from lines to numbers to shadows to arrows using five different things at once and all while he's talking on camera. This gives us a very in-depth, easy to understand presentation that our fans love."

The CodiStrator delivers live, animated digital telestration power that offers editable, resizable animated bullets with numeric increments to help a sportcaster or a news anchorman identify the elements of the action in a specific order of occurrence. This is accomplished through the availability of a large number of animated or static logos, icons and "stickers" that can be rapidly "walked over" the live video and/or pasted while on-line over semi-transparent or solid backgrounds. The "Spotlight" feature is user editable and highlights a specific area of detail. The spotlight can also be walked over the live video to follow a point of action. Additionally, animated or static logos can be turned into "cursors" and can be moved freely anywhere over a live video image.

Says Jim Martinolich, vice president of product management for Chyron, "We developed the CodiStrator to give the operator an abundance of presentation options, while maintaining a very simple to user interface. The simplicity and ease of use was a primary design concern as the CodiStrator will be used in live and on-air situations by non-technical people. We believe the CodiStrator brings a much needed level of sophistication so·phis·ti·cate
