Churchill runs past Springfield.

After suffering two league losses in its first four Midwestern League games, the Churchill football team will likely need to win out in order to make the state playoffs.

Churchill's other touchdown was scored by junior Antonio Soto, who scored four minutes into the game to cap a 63-yard, nine-play drive to give Churchill a 7-0 lead.

The Lancers needed just three plays before Sol Rexius scored from the 20 with 2:09 left in the first quarter.

Springfield (1-4) punted on its next series, and the Lancers capitalized with a five-play drive that ended with another touchdown run - this time an 8-yarder - by Sol Rexius with 9:24 to go in the half.

Springfield finally scored with 4 1/2 minutes remaining in the half when Tony Smith ran in from the 1.

Churchill responded with a five-play drive that ended with a 10-yard run by Caleb Rexius to give the Lancers a 28-7 lead. Churchill extended its lead to 35-7 when Caleb Rexius scored from the 25.

Caleb Rexius scored from the 20 on Churchill's next series. The Lancers' final touchdown came when Sol Rexius scored from the 50-yard line on the Lancers' first play of the fourth quarter.

The Millers' Braden Pelky scored on a 57-yard run when the 5-foot-7 senior quarterback found a hole and raced down the left sideline sideline
