Churchill Downs, home of America's premier horse race, the Kentucky Derby, has been added to the list of historic sports venues to host the legendary rock band, The Rolling Stones, as part of the band's 2006 North American "A Bigger Bang" tour. The Rolling Stones will perform under Churchill Downs' famed Twin Spires the evening of Friday, Sept. 29.

Approximately 50,000 tickets will be available for the event. Seating for the general public will be available in portions of the track's grandstand and clubhouse areas as well as limited seating around the concert stage, which will be positioned in the infield, facing the grandstand. Concert tickets for the general public will range in price from $60 to $300 and be available for sale beginning Monday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. EDT at all TicketMaster locations, through www.livenation.com, or by phone (see complete phone listings for ticket sales on page 2). Concert tickets are not available for sale through Churchill Downs.

The Rolling Stones' "A Bigger Bang" tour launches Sept. 20 at Boston's Gillette Stadium, recreating the magic of the band's historic Fenway Park kick-off one year ago. In addition to Churchill Downs, historic sports venues that will play host to the concert series include Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.; Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill.; Qwest Field in Seattle, Wash.; the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas; and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. Churchill Downs is unique among the concert venues selected in that it is the only horse track to be included in the North American tour. The Rolling Stones will perform in a number of stadiums and arenas in major cities as well as new markets, including Louisville, Ky., to give a variety of fans an opportunity to experience the band at its best.
