The 5-1 success provided the Church with some consolation following their luckless FA Cup exit to Kidsgrove Athletic.

Joint boss Jamie McWilliams said: "We did to Highgate what we should have done to Kidsgrove.

"At Kidsgrove, we should have got at least a draw out of the game but we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net and lost 1-0. "We came flying out of the blocks against Highgate and played very well.

"As a result, the game was won by half-time and we probably eased off a bit, while Highgate had a bit more bite about them in the second half."

McWilliams made his mark by netting the fifth Church goal on the stroke of half-time and said: "It was my first goal of the season. I probably won't score again.'' The Church have increased their firepower fire·pow·er
