Church gutted by blaze to be rebuilt in two years.

A BIRMINGHAM church destroyed by fire will be rebuilt in two years, insurers have said.

St Barnabas church, in High Street, Erdington, was due to celebrate its 150th anniversary next April.

The blaze, thought to be arson arson, at common law, the malicious and willful burning of the house of another. Originally, it was an offense against the security of habitation rather than against property rights. , broke out on Thursday morning and destroyed the roof and most of the building apart from its stone shell.

Meanwhile today's morning service will still go ahead at 10am in the graveyard adjoining the church.
