Nelson is the Chairman and former Chief Executive Officer of Nelson Communications, Inc., the firm he founded in 1987. Prior to this, he was the President of Lever Brothers The British manufacturer Lever Brothers was founded in 1885 by William Hesketh Lever and his brother, James. Mr. Nelson was also a Vice President and Group Manager with Johnson & Johnson International, and President, Chairman & Worldwide Coordinator of McNeil Consumer Products Company, a division of McNeil Laboratories The company was founded on March 17, 1879 by 23 year old Robert McNeil, who paid US $167 for a drugstore complete with fixtures, inventory and soda fountain, as a retail pharmacy, in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, PA, USA. . At McNeil, Nelson was credited with launching the TYLENOL programs that made it the top selling analgesic analgesic (ăn'əljē`zĭk), any of a diverse group of drugs used to relieve pain.
