The new telematics OBU, the TLC-200, has been make available to some domestic sales channels, and Hotai Motor Co. Ltd., the agent of Toyota and Lexus in Taiwan, has ordered 40,000 units for its vehicles.

Chunghwa Telecommunication Laboratories, the developer of the advanced telematics OBU, said that it would contract Hotai Motor's over 100 dealers around the island to sell the device.

CHT may also contract local auto-electronic companies to supply the OBU, including possibly Universal Scientific Industrial Co., Ltd., Hamg Shin Technology Corp., Hua-chuang Automobile Information Technical Center Co. Ltd. (HAITEC) etc.

To prepare development in the rapidly rising automotive-electronics market, CHT set up its Telematics business division in 2008 by integrating all available resources in the telecom group.
