Chrysler's Information Services Advanced Technologies Group participated in a cross-functional team to review and evaluate multiple Web authoring products. The team selected NetObjects Fusion because it met the diverse needs of Chrysler employees, provided an open and robust site-building environment, and fit into the existing software infrastructure both on the desktop and backend.

"We found that NetObjects Fusion provides a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Pronounced "wiz-ee-wig." It refers to displaying text and graphics on screen the same as they will print on paper or display on a Web page.  web development environment that meets or exceeds our needs and works for a cross section of employees at Chrysler," said Patrick Lavery, a member of the Advanced Technologies Group. "NetObjects was chosen as one of our standard web development tools at Chrysler Corporation, and we will continue to use it for many future projects."

Many of the groups at Chrysler had little or no programming and Web experience. Some groups were looking for a tool that did not require them to use or know HTML HTML

, while others who were more advanced, were interested in dynamic data publishing and custom scripting capabilities. NetObjects Fusion, with its versatility, ease-of-use, powerful site management capabilities, and ability to add advanced functionality through components, presented the perfect solution.

As a result of using NetObjects Fusion, Chrysler employees were able to develop effective and aesthetically pleasing sites in an environment that is both easy to maintain and enhance. Also, by developing sites in-house, Chrysler will save significantly, in both development and maintenance expenses.

It is estimated that already over 40 sites at Chrysler are being built with NetObjects Fusion. A few of these sites serve the following departments: Fleet Operations, Fleet Alternate Fuel Vehicle, the I/S I/S Information Systems
I/S Income Statement
Facilitation Group, I/S Campus Recruiting Site, Media Wave Web & Multimedia Resource Site, Advanced Technology Resource Site, I/S Recognition Site, I/S Learning Resource Center, General Auditor's Office, and I/S Partnered Solutions News Letter.
