1983's "The Waterboys" and `84s "A Pagan Place" arrive in the U.S.

April 23 with previously unreleased tracks and bonus material

The Trouser Press Guide to Rock called The Waterboys' self-titled `83 bow "a spirited combination of stirring rock and Celtic folk, a soaring, passionate blend that swelled dramatically under Mike Scott's unrestrained vocals and colorful guitar playing." It added that the following year's "equally electrifying e·lec·tri·fy

of "The Waterboys" includes the original's eight songs, but features an unedited version of "Gala." Seven previously unreleased or unavailable tracks from the same period fill out the disc. One of them, "Where Are You Now When I Need You?," intended for the original album but omitted at the time, is placed in its proper order. The six other bonus selections, all personally chosen by Mike Scott, follow the original album.

"A Pagan Place," which came out the following year, began to fulfill the potential of the band's promising debut, with Scott's ideal of a huge canvas giving the album's melodic drive through his emotional vocals. "A Pagan Place" also features a young Karl Wallinger Karl Wallinger (born October 19 1957, Prestatyn, Wales) is a Welsh musician.

Wallinger was immersed from a young age in the music of The Beatles, Beach Boys, Bob Dylan and Love. Echoes of these childhood heroes permeate the record he was to release thirty three years later.

The original album included eight songs; and for this specially remastered reissue, two of the tracks -- "All The Things She Gave Me" and "The Thrill Is Gone" -- have been included in their complete unedited form.

In addition, the new "A Pagan Place" features six previously unreleased tracks, including "Some Of My Best Friends Some of My Best Friends is a short-lived comedy shown on CBS from February 28 until April 11, 2001. The series starred Jason Bateman as Warren, a gay writer living in Greenwich Village, at 36 Christopher Street, and Danny Nucci as Frankie, his straight roommate.  Are Trains." Intended for the original record and omitted, it now takes its place within the album proper. The five bonus tracks, again, all personally chosen by Scott, follow at the end of the album. The Waterboys went on to release "This is the Sea" in 1985, "Fisherman's Blues" in 1988, "Room to Roam" in 1990, all on Ensign/Chrysalis, before moving over to Geffen in 1993. In 2001, Scott released "Rock in the Weary Land" and took a new version of The Waterboys on tour in the U.S. He continues to perform in Europe.
