Chronicle Communications Announces Expansion.

CAIRO, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 17, 1998--John V. Whitman Jr., President of Chronicle Communications, Inc., (OTCBB: CRNCD) announced today a plan for major expansion of it's shopper division throughout the state of Georgia. Over the next several months the Company plans to expand it's main stream shopper product into twenty major markets throughout Georgia.

The announcement came with news that the Company is closing its direct mail shoppers in both Grady County and Crisp County. Beginning September 1, 1998, the Company will move its Grady County product to Thomas County, Georgia. The Company's Crisp County product will now serve Sumter County. "We are only going to serve those communities that have a business base strong enough to support our products. We had to take a hard look at where revenues came from and the decision became clear. We will be aggressively hiring additional staff for our new publications, and we will be adding several graphic designers at our centralized production department," said Whitman.

Whitman, who brought the news--shopper concept to South Georgia said, "I will really miss all of the wonderful things we were able to provide for the youth of Crisp and Grady Counties. We have provided these communities with tremendous coverage of local news, sports and happenings. Our decision to move is a simple matter of economics, we are moving to communities that are building new business and industry."

Chronicle Communications is looking at several possible acquisition candidates and expects to close one or two over the next month or so. "We are aggressively looking for profitable print Media Company's that have synergism with our existing product mix," said Whitman.

The Company is making major strides in the development of its World Wide Web Business. "We have devoted a tremendous amount of time and money on our Internet technology. Our objectives are clear, 'we are going to make money with the Internet' and announcements will come soon on Chronicle's Internet product line," said Whitman.
