Christus Schumpert Selects Algotec for Major Remote Image Communications System.

"As a technologically advanced facility, we have been involved in teleradiology for over 12 years. When we decided to move to an open Web-based image communications system, we knew what we wanted. Of all the vendors considered, Algotec was the best fit."

In particular, the company demonstrated an extremely open system with advanced push and pull features. The technology provides access to radiology exams at Christus Schumpert's two main campuses, St. Mary's and Highland. Also provided is coverage for a number of rural hospitals during time periods when onsite radiology services are absent. Kumha adds, "With the new system, we are able to provide service 24/7 for these locations. This has been extremely beneficial and follows Christus Schumpert's mission of extending state-of-the-art care to underserved areas."

"With Web-based technology, doctors can read films anywhere using a standard PC and an Internet connection, while taking advantage of all of Algotec's advanced features, which make the Web viewer nothing short of a primary diagnostic workstation" explained Kumha. "That flexibility and function is a big plus."

With 12 staff radiologists, Christus Schumpert provides over 175,000 radiology examinations annually.
