Christopherson named Engineer of the Year.


Alan B. Christopherson, P. E., was named the 2003 Engineer of the Year recently at the annual Engineers Week Awards Banquet, held at the Anchorage Anchorage (ăng`kərĭj), city (1990 pop. 226,338), Anchorage census div., S central Alaska, a port at the head of Cook Inlet; inc. 1920.  Museum. Christopherson was the Alaska Society of Professional Engineers' nominee nominee n. 1) a person or entity who is requested or named to act for another, such as an agent or trustee. 2) a potential successor to another's rights under a contract. .

Christopherson is senior vice president of Anchorage-based PND (Personal Navigation Device) A portable GPS-based navigation system that can be used when walking, hiking or in any vehicle. See GPS.  Inc. Consulting Engineers. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington in 1975 and master's in civil engineering from the University of Alaska Anchorage UAA comprises eight colleges and schools: The College of Education, College of Health and Social Welfare, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and Public Policy, the Community and Technical College, School of Engineering, School of Nursing and School of Social Work.  in 1981. He is a registered professional engineer and has 28 years of experience in Alaska and Russia. Christo-pherson has extensive experience in planning, design, project management and construction of marine, port and land structures of steel, concrete and timber.
