Christmas switch-on.A TOWN is having its Christmas lights switched on today. The Mayor of South Tyneside South Tyneside is a metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear in North East England. It is bordered by four other boroughs - Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead to the west, Sunderland in the south, and North Tyneside to the north. , Coun Alex Donaldson Alexander "Alex" Pollock Donaldson (born 4 December 1890 in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire) was a Scottish footballer who played for Belgrave FC, Balmoral United FC, Ripley Athletic FC, Bolton Wanderers, Sunderland, Manchester City, Chorley, , will drop in on the Hebburn Winter Festival, in Fountain Park, to perform the switch-on, which will take place between 4pm and 5pm. The festival fun runs from 3pm to 6pm and will see a variety of activities and attractions in the park and the Iona Club. The Mayor said: "For many people, these events signal the start of Christmas." The festival has been made possible thanks to a pounds 2,000 grant towards from the Hebburn Community Area Forum. |
