He had the Second Reading of his Private Members' Bill to stop shop workers being forced to give up their traditional December 25 holiday to boost supermarket profits. It's chances of becoming law were greatly increased by Employment Minister Gerry Sutcliffe Gerard Sutcliffe (born May 13, 1953), known as Gerry Sutcliffe, is a Labour Party politician in the United Kingdom. He is Member of Parliament (MP) for Bradford South and a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and is who said the Government would support it in the hope it would become law. He said the current law on Christmas Day working was inconsistent and untenable. Mr Sutcliffe said Christmas is a day for families, particularly young families. |
