Christmas is pounds 500 happier.

Three Journal readers will all be buying extra Christmas presents for their families this year after they each scooped pounds 500 of shopping vouchers in our latest competition.

Maureen Abbott, Julie Davison and Constance Marshall entered our MetroCentre Christmas competition on Friday and Saturday.

She said: "It's my husband Joseph's 57th birthday in nine days' time, and I have three grandsons so I am sure there will be plenty to spend it on."

Saturday's second winner ( health visitor Julie Davison, 46, of High Heaton, Newcastle ( said she would spend the money on some jewellery for herself and presents for husband Paul, 47, a secondary school teacher, her 20-year-old daughter and 12-year- old son.

Friday's winner Constance Marshall, 79, of Neale Street, Prudhoe, Tynedale, said her husband Jim, 81, a retired plumber, her daughter, two grandsons and two great-grandchildren were likely to feature in her plans.

It is open from 10am to 10pm weekdays until December 23.
