She also has been involved with many other local organizations including the Hollywood Arts Council, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Hollywood Bowl Advisory Council. Essel is active in about 20 different community and civic organizations ranging from the California Youth Theatre to Alternative Living for the Aging, for which she is now completing a two-year term as board president.
