Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony, Michel Camilo, Celia Cruz, Djavan, Sheila E., Alejandro Fernandez, Israel "Cachao" Lopez, Mana, Ricky Martin, Miami Sound Machine, Tito Puente Jr., David Sanchez, Arturo Sandoval, Carlos Santana, Shakira and Dave Valentin have been selected as performers for the 1st Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards The Latin Grammy Awards were launched in 2000 with a telecast aired on CBS. It was the first primarily Spanish language prime-time program carried on an American network television. , it was announced today by Michael Greene, CEO/president of the Latin Recording Academy.

They join previously announced performers Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, 'N Sync and Son By Four.

The Latin GRAMMY Awards will be presented during a two-hour telecast by Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz, Cristian de la Fuente, Oscar de la Hoya Oscar de la Hoya (IPA pronunciation: [ˈɑs.kɛɹ dɛ.lɑ.ˈhɔɪ.jɑ][1]) (born February 4, 1973) — nicknamed the Golden Boy , Placido Domingo, Hector Elizondo, Cheech Marin, Valeria Mazza, Jon Secada and Jaci Velasquez.

The 1st Annual Latin GRAMMYS will be co-hosted by Estefan, Andy Garcia, Lopez and Jimmy Smits, and will be televised on Sept. 13 by the CBS Television Network CBS Television Network

This show will highlight a wide variety of the top Latin artists, as well as those who have had great influence on the current success of Latin music."

Leading the nominations for the Latin GRAMMY Awards are Emilio Estefan Jr. and Carlos Vives, who both earned six nods, and Marc Anthony and Shakira, with five each. The Latin GRAMMYS will boast awards in 40 key categories covering many genres and sub-genres of Latin music.

The 1st Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be produced by Cossette Productions. Pierre Cossette is executive producer; Ken Ehrlich is producer; Walter Miller is director/producer; John Cossette is supervising producer; Tisha Fein is coordinating producer. Hispanic Broadcasting Corp., the nation's largest Spanish-language radio network, is the official radio station group of the Latin GRAMMYS in association with Westwood One.
