The software will be initially used to locate, track and communicate the location of mobile medical surgical services equipment.

The automatic tracking software is designed to provide real-time tracking of mobile medical assets throughout a hospital. At Christiana Care, the system will be initially deployed in their surgical services departments where it will be integrated with active RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for storing data.  departments require extensive orchestration of clinicians, support staff and medical equipment to coordinate safe and timely patient care. With the implementation of automatic asset tracking software, busy operating rooms can ensure that they have access to scarce medical equipment when they need it so that operating room schedules are not delayed. Departments utilizing asset tracking can generate a significant return on investment by increasing the utilization of existing equipment, eliminating lost assets, and managing equipment maintenance requirements.

In 2004, Christiana Care implemented automatic patient tracking software in their emergency department at Christiana Hospital and implemented the same system in their Wilmington Hospital in 2006. At Christiana Hospital, the emergency department has been able to track 100% of patients, decrease average length of stay by 20-45 minutes and reduce patient walkouts by 24% due to faster response times.
