Chris Rock Takes Over VIBE and Speaks Out in Cover Story, as Guest Editor of the November Issue Which Hits Newsstands Today Nationwide October 5.

NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1999--

Bigger and blacker than ever, Chris Rock and his writing team blanket their sense of humor Noun 1. sense of humor - the trait of appreciating (and being able to express) the humorous; "she didn't appreciate my humor"; "you can't survive in the army without a sense of humor"

all over VIBE's November issue when the hottest comedian today serves as guest editor and speaks his mind about God, growing old, and getting in on time in the accompanying cover story. The laughs start when VIBE hits newsstands today, October 5.

Although he admits, there are a lot of preachers in his background, Rock insists he's not pushing any specific agenda. "My belief is in working hard and treating people well. All that other stuff in nonsense." Dismissing praise for his provocative "N****r vs. Black People" routine, Rock modestly says he's "just telling jokes," remarking, "I just think everything -- music, movies, books -- has gotten so dumb that a guy like me passes for smart. I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said in a barbershop."

After 10 years as a performer, Rock has learned not to let success go to his head. "I have been lucky enough to grow in little increments. I'm lucky I didn't blow up 10 years ago when I had nothing to say, 'cause I'd be gone right now."

The November issue of VIBE also features more than a dozen humor stories from Rock and writers for The Chris Rock Show. Among them are:
