BEIRUT: Chouf Cedar Reserve staff last month visited Italy, to pick up tips on managing nature parks and reserves.AaAs part of the initiative for the "Enhancement of the networking and managerial capacity of the Chouf Cedar Reserve," funded by the Italian Cooperation Office of the Embassy of Italy in Beirut, a comprehensive team from the reserve visited Italy from October 11-24. Members of several municipalities in the Chouf region, as well members of Chouf Cedar Society -- the management group for the reserve -- were part of the team that travelled to Italy.Aa The visit's first stop was Abruzzo Lazio and Molise National Park where the team was hosted by the Park in the traditional Apennine village of Opi. After an introductory session during which the Abruzzo Lazio and Molise, and Chouf teams presented their respective parks, a general discussion took place regarding management techniques and the difficulties in implementing them.Aa This was followed by a visit to the main Abruzzo Lazio and Molise Park visitor center where the Chouf team examined a number of exhibits that could be emulated in Lebanon.Aa Field trips were then organized in different sections of the mountainous moun·tain·ous adj. 1.
