Chorus Software to Automatically Receive "Designed for Microsoft BackOffice" Logo with Obsydian Generated Application; Chorus Software uses Obsydian to redevelop its Financial Accounting and Business Management Software for Microsoft BackOffice.


LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 1996--At the Microsoft Professional Developers Conference today, Synon Corporation announced that Chorus Software is the first company to use Obsydian for Windows NT/BackOffice to redevelop its application package and automatically obtain the "Designed for Microsoft BackOffice" logo.

Chorus Software, a UK-based software house, is successfully developing its financial accounting and business management software using Obsydian for Windows NT/BackOffice.

Obsydian is a model-based fully integrated application development environment that uses large scale business objects to create scaleable, business-critical applications. As previously announced, Microsoft and Synon are working jointly to deliver Obsydian for Windows NT/BackOffice, the only toolset capable of automatic delivery of native Microsoft BackOffice-based applications that also qualify for the "Designed for Microsoft BackOffice" Logo and are OLE exploitative. The product is currently in beta and will be available in January 1997.

Chorus' financial applications deliver fully functional business systems. The current version, available in RPG (Report Program Generator) One of the first program generators designed for business reports, introduced in 1964 by IBM. In 1970, RPG II added enhancements that made it a mainstay programming language for business applications on IBM's System/3x midrange computers.  on the AS/400, is installed in more than 400 organizations and is used by a wide range of organizations over a broad spectrum of industry segments.
