About the Optical Harmonic Equalizer

Chorum Technologies' OHE is part of the company's PolarModule(TM) line of optical subsystems. The OHE performs advanced optical signal processing See DSP.  applications in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing See WDM.  (DWDM (Dense WDM) The term given to wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) when significantly more channels were being added. Since WDM is increasingly more "dense" all the time, both terms are used synonymously. See WDM.

The OHE utilizes the company's patented polarization processing and liquid crystal technologies to provide dynamic gain equalization In communications, techniques used to reduce distortion and compensate for signal loss (attenuation) over long distances.  for a new generation of optical networks. The OHE dynamically adjusts the broadband gain profile of optical amplifiers to ensure that the power levels of DWDM optical signals are equalized without requiring a conversion from optical-to-electrical-to-optical. The OHE enables more cost-effective, higher bandwidth and longer-reach optical networks.
