Choral tribute to Mackerras.

Homage to Sir Charles Mackerras, the world-famous conductor who is 80 this year!

Huddersfield Choral Society have re-released their 1988 recording of Messiah, made with Sir Charles at the Henry Wood Hall in London.

He was conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and joined by soloists Felicity Lott, Felicity Palmer, Philip Langridge and Robert Lloyd.

Sir Charles is well known as a Mozart specialist, and he used the enhanced orchestration written by Mozart, rather than Handel's original.

The Choral's partnership with Signum Records continues with a new recording of carols, scheduled to take place in January 2007 in the Town Hall. Joseph Cullen will conduct, with Darius Battiwalla at the organ and a group of instrumental players. The carols album should be available in May 2007.
