The CD, on the Signum Record label, will be recorded at Huddersfield Town Hall and is due for release in the summer of 2007.

The choir will be conducted on the recording by the society's chorus master, Joseph Cullen, who is also director of the London Symphony Chorus The London Symphony Chorus (abbreviated to LSC) is one of the major concert choirs of the United Kingdom. International organist Darius Battiwalla ( who is also the society's deputy chorus master ( will accompany the singers on the Town Hall's mighty Father Willis organ.

Joseph and Darius have also arranged some of the 26 items on the CD for brass and organ, and several members of the Orchestra of Opera North The Orchestra of Opera North (or English Northern Philharmonia as recording name) is, as might be expected, the orchestra that plays for the British opera company, Opera North.  brass section will be adding their weight to the recording sessions on Sunday.

As for what will be included on the recording, look out for a blend of old favourites and newer items.

Christmas classics such as O Come, All Ye Faithful O Come, All Ye Faithful

traditional Christmas carol. [Western Culture: “0 Come, All Ye Faithful” in Rockwell, 142–143]

, Hark! the Herald-angels Sing and Silent Night are on the singing list alongside newer items including a delightful setting of Little Jesus, Sweetly Sleep by Darius Battiwalla plus a vigorous In excelsis Gloria by Joseph Cullen.

The choir will also be including arrangements and carols by Graham Barber and Simon Lindley.

Perhaps one of the most nostalgic of tracks will be that of Christians Awake which is traditionally sung by the Choral before before each performance of Messiah at Christmas.

The choir's previous hymns and carols album, made over 20 years ago with Owain Arwel Hughes, each sold over 100,000 copies worldwide. The gold discs hang in Huddersfield Town Hall as a proud reminder of this achievement.
