Choir coming home to let the Christmas cheer ring out; Classical.

Byline: PATSY FULLER

COVENTRY'S own Saint Michael's Singers are coming home to launch their Christmas celebrations in the city.

The choir are based at Coventry Cathedral but their busy schedule takes them all over the country, making "home fixtures" a treat for both singers and city music lovers alike.

Tomorrow, the singers invite Coventry people to start their Christmas celebrations with two carol events at the cathedral.

And next Friday they'll be teaming up with the ESO ESO European Southern Observatory
ESO Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (Spain: compulsory secondary education)
ESO European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere
ESO Edmonton Symphony Orchestra
Chamber Orchestra for a candlelit performance of Handel's Messiah, also in the cathedral.

Tomorrow's concerts will follow a traditional pattern: The 3pm Family Carols, for which the singers will be joined by the Crescent School Choir from Rugby, is free, and will feature a visit from Father Christmas.

Later, the choristers of Coventry Cathedral, Coventry Blue Coat School Choir, the City of Coventry Youth Orchestra and organist Alistair Reid, will all help the Christmas cheer ring out in Carols For All, which starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the evening concert cost pounds 12, with concessions, and pounds 30 for a family ticket.

On Friday, the soloists for Messiah will be soprano Emma Morwood, tenor Matthew Minter and bass Adrian Blakeley.

The conductor will be Paul Leddington Wright.
