Paradyne Networks Inc. (Nasdaq:PDYN) today announced that Choice One Communications Choice One Communications is a Rochester, New York-based CLEC providing Telecommunications services to commercial entities. The company was founded in 1998 as an "alternative to the incumbent local phone carriers".  Inc. (Nasdaq:CWON) has selected the Hotwire(R) ReachDSL solution to deploy high-speed data and voice services in its expanded Midwest territory.

Choice One recently completed a merger with US Xchange, a Michigan Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier) An organization offering local telephone service that is not one of the traditional telephone companies. Broadband digital communications connection that operates over standard copper telephone wires. It requires a DSL modem, which splits transmissions into two frequency bands: the lower frequencies for voice (ordinary
 equipment in all of the existing US Xchange collocations. Choice One's service footprint will then include 29 markets in 12 states.

ReachDSL enables Choice One to serve customers outside of the typical distance limitations of other DSL technologies such as ADSL See DSL.

ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line
. It is the only line-sharing compatible and customer installable solution that can serve customers located more than 24,000 ft. from their central offices (COs).

The Hotwire ReachDSL solution provides line-sharing compatible DSL services at symmetric speeds ranging from 128 Kbps to 1 Mbps. Only Paradyne's Hotwire ReachDSL system guarantees reliable operation to a minimum of 18,000 ft.
