Choice One Carrier Services and Easton Telecom Services Sign Agreement for UNE-P Alternative.


ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Choice One Communications Choice One Communications is a Rochester, New York-based CLEC providing Telecommunications services to commercial entities. The agreement with Choice One gives Easton a choice of provisioning options and provides them with an alternative to the ILEC--ultimately allowing them to be more aggressive with pricing.

"New federal regulations have changed the rules governing the incumbent providers. Having the ability to provide an alternative access solution has grown our Carrier Services business and allowed us to enter into strategic partnerships that have benefited both Choice One and our Customers," stated Nick Sgroi, Vice President Choice One Carrier Services.

"The agreement with Choice One provides us with additional options and flexibility," said Robert Mocas, President, Easton Telecom Services. "It allows us to leverage the breadth of Choice One's network to offer competitive plans and to expand our product offering. Most importantly, it gives us the ability to look beyond the ILEC (Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier) A traditional local telephone company such as one of the Regional Bell companies (RBOCs). See ELEC and TELRIC.  and avoid being forced into accepting the stringent terms found in the RBOC (Regional Bell Operating Company) The Bell telephone companies that were spun off of AT&T by court order in 1984 (the Divestiture).
