Choice Hotels Board Promotes Joseph M. Squeri to Executive Vice President, Operations, and Chief Financial Officer.

SILVER SPRING, Md. -- Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE:CHH) today announced that its board of directors has promoted Joseph M. Squeri to the position of executive vice president, operations, and chief financial officer, taking on additional operating responsibilities in the areas of franchise services, partner services and information technology.

Squeri previously had been executive vice president and chief financial officer and oversees the finance, franchise development and brand functions.

"With this move, we have created a more efficient and focused organization," said Charles A. Ledsinger, Jr., president and chief executive officer. "Better alignment among many of the key operating functions will enable us to target our efforts on our key goals of maximizing returns for both our franchisees and shareholders."

Ledsinger's direct reports now include: Squeri; Wayne Wielgus, executive vice president and chief marketing officer; Michael DeSantis, senior vice president and general counsel; Bruce Haase, senior vice president, international; and Tom Migron, senior vice president, human resources and administration.

Reporting to Squeri will be: David Goldberg, senior vice president, corporate and brand strategy; Janna Morrision, senior vice president, franchise services; David Pepper, senior vice president, franchise development; Daniel Rothfeld, senior vice president, partner services group; Gary Thomson, senior vice president and chief information officer; David Tucker, vice president, internal audit; and David White, vice president, finance, and controller.

Squeri is a graduate of the University of Virginia. He joined the company in February 1997 and has been the chief financial officer since June 1999. He assumed responsibility for franchise sales and development in April 2002 and responsibility for brands and product development in 2004. Prior to joining Choice, Squeri was with The Carlyle Group, a leading private investment firm in Washington, D.C.
